Roof over Zürich

Zurich, Switzerland
Realised in 2024
Client: Private
The house in the district Wiedikon in Zürich was orgiginally built at the end of the 18th century. In 1966 the architect Jakob Schilling, designed a beautiful home for him and his family under the existing roof. Since insulation was not a thing in the 60ties, time has come to to energetically refurbish it. With respect for the existing structure and great architecture, we change only the what was necessary. All windows got replaced, the south facing roof received a fully integrated photovoltaic system, the playful north facade is characterised by a series of "porthole eye" windows.
