Atelierhaus

Sufers, Switzerland
Realised in 2024
Client: Private
The building was originally built as a stable at the end of the 18th century, in the middle of the historic village centre of Sufers. In 1972, it was converted into a residential building, given a different façade and a new floor plan.
In 2018, the new owners decided to remodel the interior of the house, the rooms were fitted with new floor coverings, a completely new kitchen, a new bathroom and pellet heating for greater comfort.
In 2023, the second stage was tackled, a complete energy-efficient renovation of the building envelope. The house was completely insulated on the outside with sheep's wool. An integrated photovoltaic system on the roof produces electricity and the exterior walls were clad with rough-sawn spruce boards. To enhance the roof space, a dormer window was realised on the east side, which generates a variety of light effects with the reflective interior surface.
A small loggia was built on the south façade to capture the winter sunshine.
